Utopia, a reckoning:

The people in the developing country , Utopia, have reached a consensus and revised their national "song" taking into consideration, their present situation.
Utopia's National Song:
They're out to get you, better leave while you can
Don't wanna be a boy, you wanna be a man
You wanna stay alive, better do what you can
So beat it, just beat it
Just beat it, beat it, beat it, beat it
No one wants to be defeated
Showin' how funky strong is your fight
It doesn't matter who's wrong or right
Just beat it, beat it [4x]

Death

As we entered the burial ground, my son , in utter wonderment, asked my niece - Pittuakka, is this heaven? (Because to him, his great grandfather Shivaiah thatha is dead and now next step is to go to heaven)
My niece chuckled and said - no...not heaven but yes it is a port to go there.

Film: WONDER

It is one of the best children’s movies, I have seen. The kids in the theatre were very eager to know what’s happening in the movie. I could hear them asking their parents. My 6 yr old was no different. Animated, VFX movies provide them with wonderment. But they could easily relate to this movie. Never once I caught my son restless. I even caught him crying , getting emotional while watching. After the movie, my son told me that he liked the movie very much and he wants me to read him the novel. I’m glad I took him. I recommend you take your kids as well.
Movie is one big mushy happy movie about friendship, trying to fit in, realising one’s own answers, feeling comfortable in their own skin, facing problems etc etc...There were couple of story lines , my adult mind thought was unnecessary but those were there to drum down the point that each person has his own hurdle and hence one should be kind to all.
And one more thing, take a box full of tissues. You will need it. My 2017 ended well with a good movie. So here is wishing you all the goodness , kindness , happiness to you in the coming year. ❤️

Film: Wonder

Sith Lords, Garmedon, Venom are all fancy villains. Kids love them. But in real life, the enemies are not that fancy and more importantly they have to face them. In the movie #Wonder, kids relate themselves to August Pullman who has had 27 facial surgeries due to genetic disorder. They don’t see him as a victim , maybe a boy with different facial features, initially but that soon ceases as they start seeing him as one among them. They become him, having the same problems/ villains like new school, new teachers, the arduous way to make friends, not being friends anymore, fitting in, being bullied, trying to avoid bullies, etc and share the same triumphs- making good friends and get back to being friends again. The path to know the essence of a person especially for kids is same irrespective of whether one has facial surgeries or not. They follow instincts to trust another being and we should let them follow it.
